Ten Leadership Theories in Five Minutes

In Ten Leadership Theories in Five Minutes, Professor Michael Zigarelli does a fast and furious – but very effective – job of identifying the top styles of leadership and our understanding of them over the years.

This video will introduce you to various leadership styles and explain what they are and how they differ. A great starting point for understanding leadership techniques. Watch it, and then if any particular style appeals to you, be sure to explore it further. You can research them on the Internet by name, or browse our site, as we have a number of articles about leadership styles and are constantly adding more!

  1. Greg,

After a long day of reading and working on my computer, it was so very relaxing to sit back and listen to these theories. I enjoyed them all and think that each one may be applicable, depending on what aspect of leadership you are addressing at a particular time.

I am a Behaviourist so I tend to lean towards Situational, Transactional and/or Transformational Leadership. In my opinion, the most effective leaders are those who are able to use the principles of these and apply them as required for the outcome they are seeking.

We are human beings and our behaviours are not cast in stone. It is therefore important to be flexible with our leadership styles. Leadership is service and without genuine care for our people, attaining recognition as an effective leader will always be elusive.

Thank you and I look forward to more engaging concepts.

    • Hey Cassandra,

We both like this video as well. There are more leadership styles out there and we will be dedicating articles and publications to them soon, but I like how approachable this video is. Professor Zigarelli did a good job. When you get a chance, visit his YouTube channel. It’s full of other great videos.
